Domenica More Gordon
Domenica More Gordon has been surrounded by art and artists since she was born. With a watercolor artist father and a sculpter mother, it’s no wonder that Domenica was drawn to design. She studied textiles at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, and lived and worked internationally before her felt dogs made a splash on the design scene in early 2009. Domenica’s dogs started out as sheep’s wool, shaped by felt needling for a Christmas charity. Word of mouth raised her profile, as did an article in World of Interiors in October 2009. Orders have since come from around the globe, and has raised the interest of both Brad Pitt and Pete Townshend, who have inquired about ordering some of her dogs.
Each dog is drawn first, inspired by a real dog, and then shaped with felt. People have requested custom-made dogs based on their own pets, which Domenica is happy to oblige. Her work is sold at The Workshop Gallery in Edinburgh. She is planning a children’s book and an internet film featuring the dogs.
