Oprah Winfrey calls his designs "works of art." Tim Gunn calls him "a prodigy" and "the next great American fashion designer." Only 24 years old, Christian Siriano was born to design.
Raised by a creative family in Annapolis, Maryland, Christian began designing at just thirteen years old and attended the Baltimore School for the Arts and then went on to study at the American Intercontinental University in London. While in London he interned with punk legend Vivienne Westwood and fashion-forward designer, Alexander McQueen. Upon returning to the United States and moving to New York City, he began to work as a freelance bridal designer and collaborated with Rosetta Getty on her Riser Goodwyn label. Christian's break came when he earned a spot on season four of Bravo's hit program "Project Runway" and became the show's youngest winner, fan favorite, and a rising star in the fashion world.
Since September 2008, Christian has shown a full runway collection during New York Fashion Week each season for his Christian V. Siriano line with sponsors like LG, Sprint, Victoria's Secret, Cibu International, and Aveda. The fall 2009 collection was picked up by Saks Fifth Avenue in New York for their new designer section which sold out quickly. Spring 2010 will also be sold at the high end retail establishment as well as Neiman Marcus beginning in the fall of 2010.
In addition to his own ready-to-wear collections, Christian has embarked on several collaborative endeavors. He created a recurring collection of shoes and bags for Payless, first debuting in September 2009, partnered with Victoria's Secret to create a make-up line that launched in fall 2009, has worked on a collaboration with Puma, and this holiday season Christian teamed up with Starbucks to design the artwork for a limited-edition mini gift card benefitting The Art of Elysium. The fashion designer can also add author to his resume having written a style guide titled Fierce Style: How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self, available now.
Celebrity clients include Rihanna, Emmy Rossum, Christina Hendricks, Melania Trump, Victoria Beckham, Lady GaGa, Heidi Klum, Alexis Bledel, Katrina Bowden, Maggie Grace, Vanessa Williams, Keri Hilson, Alessandra Ambrosio, Pink, Estelle, Mena Suvari, Kelly Rowland, Nicole Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls, Becki Newton, Veronica Webb, Leigh Lezark, Thalia, Tori Spelling, Kristen Johnson, and Whoopi Goldberg in her role as host of the 2008 Tony Awards.
Additional credits include a guest role on hit television series Ugly Betty and Bravo's Make Me A Supermodel. Christian has appeared on daytime and late night talk shows - he was a red carpet fashion correspondent for the 2008 Emmy Awards, 2008 MTV Movie Awards, and the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. In addition to he was also tapped to design a full couture collection to appear in the film "Eloise in Paris," starring Uma Thurman.
In March 2010 Christian was voted as one of Crain's New York's "30 Under 30."
