The Babysitter is a 1995 American thriller film directed by Guy Ferland and starring Alicia Silverstone based on the eponymous short story by Robert Coover in his collection Pricksongs and Descants (1969). The film was released direct-to-video in October 1995.
A beautiful teenage babysitter (Alicia Silverstone) is charged with the care of a preteen boy, a little girl, and a baby. She becomes the basis for fantasies of the boy, her boyfriend, Jack, his questionable friend, and the father of the children she is babysitting. Meanwhile, the children’s mother, at a party thinks Jack’s friend’s father wants to have an affair with her, and she fantasizes about it.
The Babysitter received negative reviews; it currently holds a 29% ‘rotten’ rating on review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes.
