No snoozing — SLEEPWALK WITH ME is here!

Sleepwalk With Me
Comedian Mike Birbiglia turned a kind of serious problem — chronic sleepwalking — into one helluva funny story, about relationships, marriage and stand-up comedy. SLEEPWALK WITH ME won the Best of Next! Audience Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Check out the trailer:

Originally a story on NPR’s This American Life (and later a one-man show), SLEEPWALK was produced and co-written by TAL‘s Ira Glass, who even makes an appearance as a wedding photographer.

And hey — want to meet the filmmakers? Birbiglia and Glass will be attending every single screening of SLEEPWALK WITH ME its opening weekend –- Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25 — in New York’s IFC Center. They’ll be collecting tickets, selling concessions, cleaning bathrooms… and doing Q&As. Here’s their clip about it:

Sadly, today we learned the news that Birbiglia and Glass’s This American Life colleague, the writer and performer David Rakoff, died yesterday at the age of 47. Rakoff’s collections Fraud, Don’t Get Too Comfortable and Half Empty proved him to be one of the most insightful, hilarious essayists of recent times. He told the truth, in a way that made us listen. You can hear for yourself in a selection of his stories in the radio archives of TAL.
