Tracy Morgan acts like Tracy Morgan and collapses at Sundance

30 Rock star Tracy Morgan was in Park City this week to promote his new film PREDISPOSED. Unfortunately, it seems like there are other things Morgan is predisposed to, like altitude sickness. According to various reports, the comedian collapsed at Sundance last night and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

As the initial story from TMZ had it, Morgan, who suffers from diabetes, was out at a gala dinner for The Creative Coalition, where he was being honored with a Spotlight Initiative Award. TMZ reported that Morgan “appeared extremely intoxicated” and gave a “near-incoherent award acceptance speech.” In other words, he acted like Tracy Morgan making an acceptance speech. On his way out of the ceremony a short while later, however, he passed out.

But the official word from Morgan’s publicist has things differently. In a report from the Associated Press, Morgan’s rep says he “suffered a combination of exhaustion and altitude” and said the hospital found no traces of drugs or alcohol in Morgan’s system. TMZ later updated their original story with confirmation of the no-drugs report with a spokeswoman from the Park City Medical Center; they also included more from Morgan’s publicist, who added that “any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100% false.”

Morgan was supposed to make the press rounds at the festival today (including at Sundance Channel) but those interviews have been cancelled or postponed. A few minutes ago on his Twitter page, Morgan gave his side of the story, tweeting “Superman ran into a little kryptonite. The high altitude in Utah shook up this kid from Brooklyn.” He also promised he’d back to work at 30 Rock tomorrow, so it appears his health scare isn’t too serious. Call me naive, but I’m predisposed to believe him.
