Sundance Film Festival Deals: THE DETAILS, PERFECT SENSE, THE GUARD, ANOTHER EARTH

The Sundance Film Festival deal-making continues. Recent acquisitions:

IFC Films has nabbed the North American rights to director David Mackenzie’s romantic thriller PERFECT SENSE, starring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green, which debuted at the festival in the Premieres section on Monday night. (Just announced; see trailer below)

The Weinstein Company has picked up the worldwide distribution rights to Jacob Aaron Estes’ dark comedy THE DETAILS, which stars Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks and Laura Linney, reportedly for a 7.5 million minimum guarantee, with a $10 million P&A commitment. (More info)

Sony Pictures Classics has snagged the U.S. and Latin American distribution rights to John Michael McDonagh’s Irish buddy-cop film THE GUARD, starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, in what Deadline said was a “7-figure deal.” (More info)

Fox Searchlight has continued its purchase spree, picking up Mike Cahill’s ANOTHER EARTH, in a deal “worth $1.5 million – $2 million, with an aggressive P&A commitment as well,” according to the Wrap. (More info)
