Morgan Spurlock sells out — in a good way?

Those of you who haven’t had a bite of McDonald’s food – a sip of shake, a single fry, a morsel of McRib – since Morgan Spurlock’s SUPER SIZE ME permanently altered your perspective will be interested to learn that the filmmaker/provocateur is returning to the Sundance Film Festival this year with THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER SOLD, a movie in which he “examines the world of product placement, marketing, and advertising by making a film financed entirely by product placement, marketing, and advertising.” After its Sundance premiere, the movie will have a wider release this spring.

In the meantime, you can sign up for email updates about the film on its Web site. Strangely enough, the first email we received did not include advertising. (And Spurlock calls himself a sellout!) It did, however, include this promise: “I have funded this entire film with money from some pretty straight-laced companies, and the end result will surely make you laugh all the way to therapy.” Uh-oh … How will he mess with our heads this time?
