SundanceTV’s acclaimed supernatural drama, THE RETURNED, has been honored with a Peabody Award, it was announced today. This is the fourth time that the network has been honored with a Peabody win–the first in 2005 for THE STAIRCASE, the second in 2008 for NIMROD NATION, and the third in 2010 for BRICK CITY. The 73rd Annual George Foster Peabody Awards will be hosted this year by Ira Glass and presented on May 19th at a ceremony held at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria.
Viewers can still get hooked on the engrossing, stylish eight-part French horror series that Entertainment Weekly gave an “A-” and called “eerie, tense, and highly addictive.” Beginning Sunday December 1st, each week, viewers will have the chance to catch-up on all previously aired episodes during marathons of THE RETURNED in anticipation of each week’s brand new episode on Sundance Channel.
Sundance Channel announced today that it would be the first ever TV channel to use innovative ADVNTR technology to stage an interactive digital storytelling ad campaign. Entitled “Choose Your Own Adventure”, users will interact with an online pre-roll ad and select various scenarios to play out based on their preference. The promotion is pegged to the premiere of the network’s new drama THE RETURNED which will premiere on Halloween, October 31st at 9:00PM ET/PT.
Sundance Channel announced today that it has acquired US broadcast rights to the supernatural drama THE RETURNED from Music Box Films. The eight-part French series distributed by Zodiak Rights was created by Fabrice Gobert and is based on the feature film Les Revenants by Robin Campillo. It will premiere on Sundance Channel on Halloween, Thursday, October 31st at 9PM ET/PT. It will air every Thursday night at 9PM.
The critically received series was a smash hit for France’s Canal+ and the UK’s Channel 4. The New York Times recently profiled outstanding foreign drama series and pronounced it “fresh and unexpected.” The Independent wrote “THE RETURNED…is actually one of the greatest, creepiest, most compelling shows brought to…TV screens in 2013,” and The Daily Telegraph commented, “Probably the most stylish thing you’ll see on TV this year.”
