I previously blogged here about the scheduled demolition of the Long Island mansion that helped inspire the setting of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. As bulldozers went to work recently Christine Lee Zilka drove over and captured this foggy photo of the mansion in its last gasps.

This dilapidated 25-room mansion located in Sands Point, New York that helped inspire F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby is scheduled to be razed and replaced with five $10 million mansions.
