Todd Akin made a simple mistake. When he said “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” he was obviously referring to ducks. And come on, who hasn’t on occasion confused the human female reproductive system with that of a duck?

As the new USA Network miniseries Political Animals is reminding us, politics can get rather catty. Clearly based on a highly fictionalized version of Hillary Clinton’s life, the drama is full of snappy lines, strong women and, of course, Sigourney Weaver as Hillary stand-in Elaine Barrish. The claws come when she spars with Susan Berg, a reporter determined to climb back into the spotlight while fighting the snark-laden world of Washington politics. We always enjoy seeing a good cat fight in the political arena, but let’s not forget the real cats in politics.

We all know about Rick Perry’s slaughter on human decency–now the most unliked video on Youtube. I hope every time he talks about gay people in the American Military a gay man gets married to somebody he loves. But Rick Perry’s not the only person running ridiculous ads in the Republican primaries. Sure, they might not be as outwardly as homophobic, but it still terrifies me that these people could become president (well, except Herman Cain–how we miss him). Oh, hell, it scares me that these videos were even made in the first place! Here are five of the best:
