BEGINNINGS: Marjane Satrapi on mistresses and monks

Growing up in a family of artists, Marjane Satrapi was encouraged to develop her love of American comics, Bruce Lee, and sassy heroines into a life committed to comic books. With a singular vision and an obsessively beautiful touch, Satrapi makes comics that show what happens when life turns upside down and stops being normal all at once, as it did for hers and so many other families living in Iran.

BEGINNINGS sits down with the creator of Persepolis to talk mistresses, monks and her life-or-death relationship to her art.
