Brace yourself for fright night: What's playing this week on Sundance Channel
If you don’t have your Halloween costume ready yet, tune into Sundance Channel this week for inspiration a la Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch, with back-to-back screenings of EYES WIDE SHUT and ERASERHEAD. If it’s less creep you seek in your ghoulish pursuits, the animated, family-friendly THE LADY AND THE REAPER or star-studded murder mystery THE DEAD GIRL are sure to satisfy. For those not looking to be scared senseless, we’ve got some stellar screenings for you too, like Michelle Williams’ 2008 indie hit WENDY AND LUCY and Guy Maddin’s THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD, starring Isabella Rossellini.
And it just wouldn’t be a complete week on Sundance without a few documentaries, right? We round things out with WILD HORSE REDEMPTION from Oscar-winning filmmaker John Zaritsky and the Tour de France tour de force, BLOOD, SWEAT & GEARS. Then we shift focus with MONSIEUR HUBERT DE GIVENCHY, the fascinating story of the man who defined haute couture in the 50s and 60s. But if your taste in clothing is less demure and more drag, be sure to check out PAGEANT, which follows five men competing in the annual Miss Gay America pageant.
