Vimeo of the Week: N.Y. Adorned "Tradition"
Evan Owen Davis‘ film N.Y. Adorned “Tradition” is a short black and white portrait of tattoo artistry and New York City. The tattoo studios, not unlike the art studios of New York, are filled with people from all over the world. Images of New York City are spliced with images of tattoo artists, clients, and the tools of the trade to create a visual story of the process and the people. Tattooing is a very colorful art form, which makes Davis’ film’s lack of color that much more powerful. You focus on the lines and the guns and the people, instead of the color. It’s a tribute to one of the world’s oldest arts as well as to NYC.
