Bb 2.0: online collaborative composing is the home of Bb 2.0, a web-based sound experiment that harnesses the power of YouTube, namely the user’s ability to play an unlimited number of YouTube videos at the same time. In what is perhaps the most creative application of this feature, Bb 2.0 is basically an online music-making platform that allows the user to select as many of its twenty videos to play together to make a seemingly endless number of unique musical scores.

Choices include the xylophone, trumpet, sax, banjo, piano and electric guitar as well as electronic sounds, vocals, even spoken word. The only unifying principle these samples share is that they’re all in Bb major, so no matter how limited your musical background is, most combinations (at least all the ones I’ve tried) sound pretty good, some surprisingly so.
