Conan O'Brien Kinetic Typography

Conan O’Brien Kinetic Typography from Jacob Gilbreath on Vimeo.

For his Digital Design course at Oklahoma State University, Jacob Gilbreath created this impressive “kinetic typographic” video of Conan O’Brien’s farewell speech on his final episode hosting The Tonight Show. In the same way that the Internet provided a means for various fans to coalesce and rally around Conan aka CoCo, the viral online aspect of the web has helped drive awareness of Jacob’s project way beyond simply the classroom. Jacob explains:

…this concept was achieved by creating a literal wall from over 60 individual typographic layouts. These custom crafted layouts reference a variety of eclectic type design. The combination of eclectic typography and modern 3D letter forms achieved in Cinema 4D provides a contrast between old and new. This contrast emphasizes time to create a sturdy and timeless object. This solidity and timelessness is the perfect representation of Conan O’Brien.

This technique and style coming to a commercial or movie soon near you!
