Mel Gibson Out of The Hangover 2
So after the rumors of Mel Gibson’s cameo in the upcoming HANGOVER 2 hit the interwebs last week, word comes out of Hollywood this morning that director Todd Phillips has decided not to use Gibson in the film. As reported in the New York Post a week ago, Gibson was given the role of a tattoo artist in Thailand, where the film will take place. According to Yahoo News, Phillips stated, “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of [WB president] Jeff Robinov and his team.”
According to rumors however, members of the cast and crew, most notably Zach Galifianakis, were vocal in their disapproval of casting Gibson, so Phillips ultimately decided to replace Mel. It’s interesting that the HANGOVER cast and crew was concerned about working with alleged abuser Mel Gibson in HANGOVER 2, while seeing it perfectly fine to work with convicted rapist Mike Tyson in HANGOVER 1. Maybe they can discuss with Roman Polanski while he’s on summer holiday in Bangkok…
