Twitter's analysis of tweets during the World Cup

By Internet time the World Cup seems like it happened eons ago, but Twitter’s official blog recently posted their analysis of tweets during the World Cup. Their analysis and relevance team compiled results into a cool infographic “charting fans’ use of hashflags (like #esp or #usa) during the tournament with a background of TPS [tweets per second] over the same period.” The above Wordle inforgraphic depicts tweets from 81 countries in 23 languages at the moment of the winning goal by Spain.

Also, a ball (the Adidas “Jobulani”) used in the final between the Dutch and Spaniards was sold at an auction for $73,769 to a group of (happy) Spanish fans, and the proceeds will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
