The Big Butt Book

A note to all the ladies trying to lose that butt before bikini season is officially on: maybe you don’t have to after all. At least not if it resembles the back side of any of the women featured in Taschen’s “The Big Butt Book,” an ode to our “awe, fantasy and slavish devotion” to the female booty. The promotional copy for this book is packed with more puns than anything I’ve read lately, but in this case I think it’s okay. This is not one of Taschen’s ‘serious’ publications, so why not have a little fun? ”From small and taut to large and sumptuous” and mostly large and sumptuous, Dian Hanson’s fourth installment of her critically acclaimed body parts series (see also Breasts, Legs and Penis) includes over 400 photographs from 1900 to the present day, including work by Ellen on Unwerth, Jean-Paul Goude, Richard Kern, Terry Richardson and Elmer Batters. These butts really do run the gamut, from tight and oiled up to bigger than you ever thought possible. Some butts are sexy, some are cute or nice and some are just funny looking. Leave it on your coffee table and see what happens.
