The Times Style Magazine recently posted an item on their website on “Vincent Olinet’s mixed-media sculptures” which is currently exhibiting at Galerie Laurent Godin in Paris through May 15. Their accompany photo of the artist’s (intriguing) lipstick piece caught my eye and loosely reminded me of the Lipstick Building. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the popular nickname given to a skyscraper designed by influential architect Philip Johnson and John Burgee Architects, and located at 885 Third Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. As it suggests, the shape of the building resembles a lipstick tube. I passed by it everyday when I lived in that neighborhood some years ago. It made quite a “mark” on me.
