New band from a New Order

Bernard Sumner has been a prolific musician the last few decades. He was a member of the iconic Joy Division which became the even more iconic New Order after the suicide of JD’s Ian Curtis. Word of New Order’s demise left a foul taste in the mouth of techno-pop fans across the world. Now, there is hope.

Bernard has had success before without New Order. Electronic, his collaboration with The Smiths’ Johnny Marr and sometimes the Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant, yielded some classic singles.

Sumner is back with a new band. Bad Lieutenant finds the vocalist teaming up with New Order guitarist Phil Cunningham and Jake Evans. Their album, Never Cry Another Tear, will be released on October 6. Their first single “Sink or Swim” is available as a free download at Spin right now. Welcome back Bernard.
