Henry Rollins

Henry Rollins [www.henryrollins.com] joined the Southern California band Black Flag as vocalist in 1981. Upon the demise of the legendary rock group, he formed Rollins Band and has been making records and touring the world ever since. Beyond taking the stage as a musician, Henry does speaking dates all over the world, and along with the band dates, has averaged over one hundred shows a year for twenty-five years.

A Grammy winner for the performance of his own book Get in the Van, Henry is not one to confine his performances strictly to the stage. He performs in movies and TV shows including Bad Boys II and Heat, and as host of his own The Henry Rollins Show.

Henry is currently filming a series of documentaries for IFC, hosting his weekly LA radio show, and running 2-13-61, a publishing company he created to release books, CDs and DVDs.

1. What’s your favorite political movie?


2. What role do you feel art plays in politics?

It can be used to galvanize people in the face of oppression. It can be used to agitate and motivate and sometimes be a source of truth. Its why Stalin disappeared artists and writers. When you see the arts getting oppressed by the government, you know its Orwell time.

3. What do you think is the biggest issue for the next generation of Americans?

Energy and the environment because they will determine what you get to do, where you get to go, how much you get to eat and drink, etc.

4. Who was the first political candidate you were excited to vote for and why?

Bill Clinton. I really thought he was the way out of the Reagan / Bush 12 years of disaster.

5. What factors are important to you in choosing a president?

Clarity, vision.

6. What issues would you like to see politicians focus more on?

The real stuff. Not Lipstick. The issues that affect us all. Everyone knows what they are.

7. Which issues would you like to see politicians focus less on?

Personalities, how many homes, middle names, etc.

8. Which candidate’s initiatives do you feel better address environmental concerns?


9. This is your soapbox shout it out! What do you need to get off your chest?

If you dont take part in the overhaul and upgrade of America from top to bottom, from stem to stern we’re done.
